Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff & Students,

As this is the final full newsletter for 2023, I would like to thank the students, staff, parents/guardians and the school community for another terrific year.

On behalf of our school community, I would like to wish our 2023 graduating students in Years 6 and 9 all the very best as they embark on the next exciting path of their learning journey. Both year levels have been an exceptional group of students who have been excellent role models for their younger peers at Timbarra.

Thank you to the Student Leadership Teams who have represented our College with great pride this year. They too have been excellent role models and ambassadors for Timbarra throughout the year.

Our School Council members have demonstrated dedication and an ongoing commitment to the constant improvement of Timbarra P-9 College. A special thank you to Ken Shields who has confidently led as our President for 2023.

We have many new students commencing at our College in 2024 and we look forward to welcoming them into our community. For those who are leaving our school we wish you all the very best and hope that you look back favourably on your time spent with us at Timbarra P-9 College.

I would like to wish you all a very happy festive season and safe holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone back for the first day of the 2024 school year on Tuesday January 30th, 2024.

Our Year 9's were very busy in Melbourne during the last week of November on their City Experience Camp! On the Monday they explored Docklands attending Artvo, Medibank Icehouse and the Archie's Brothers Arcade.

Tuesday was spent at Luna Park and St Kilda beach. The evening was topped off with a cruise along the Yarra, where some very entertaining dance moves took place.

The final day saw students participating in a slightly modified Amazing Race due to weather, where they took photos at various locations around the city.

Chloe: On the Year 9 camp I enjoyed the arcade, because we had the freedom to roam around and play different games with each other.

Axel:To me camp was a big adventure. I liked travelling around all of the different parts of the city with my friends.

Liam: The most enjoyable part of the city experience was the ice skating and the disco on the Yarra River cruise.

Mitchell: My highlight of the city camp was the boat cruise. Travelling across the Yarra River with a beautiful sunset and DJ was epic. Overall the entire camp was a blast.

Oscar: Having camp in the city was a great experience. The highlight was the boat cruise and seeing Mr Closter dance.

Zara: I enjoyed seeing all the different aspects of the city. I enjoyed the cruise the most because it was fun and had great views.

What an amazing last week of primary school. It all started on Monday when we had our formal graduation ceremony. On Tuesday we head off to our secondary school orientations to meet our new classes and potential friends. On Wednesday we had the Timbarra Community Carnival which was bigger and better than ever. On Thursday we spent the day at Gumbuya World with our friends on rides, at the water park and seeing animals. On Friday we had our final primary assembly, followed by 6ixes Club all day events including; Guess the Baby, Pizza Picnic and Top Signing.
Thank you our Year 6 teachers, Mr. Hildebrand, Mrs Miotto and Miss Wills for organising such fun week for all of us and supporting us throughout the year. We couldn’t have done it without the three of you.
We have loved our time in 6W this year and hopefully these memories will stay with us in the years to come.

Kaden: I was really surprised and happy to receive the Dux Award.

Cooper: I enjoyed meeting my new class for next year and some of the teachers. I’m excited for high school.

Zach: The carnival was so much fun. The rides were insane, I went on the Scrambler so many times. I’m really excited to see what they do for the next one.

Jaxon: Gumbuya World is the best excursion I’ve ever been on. I’m so glad I got to spend the day with all my friends, one last time before high school.

Ayden: Guessing the baby photos was a cool activity, especially the Year 6 teacher’s as babies. The pizza was really yum as well.

What an explosion of colour we had on Friday 24th November at school. So many happy colourful faces running around the oval completing lots of obstacles and getting splashed with colour! The highlight of the afternoon was our highest fundraiser Kayden sliming Mr Ciccarelli!
