The Timbarra Junior School (Prep- Year 6) Curriculum integrates academic learning with social development, building strong foundations in English and Mathematics with innovative and dynamic teaching and learning. Students link the skills learnt within the classroom by having opportunities to practice these in authentic purposeful situations.
Our teachers inspire students to be resilient, critical thinkers and collaborative learners by extending their interest in the world around them; to ensure they confidently encounter new situations. The teachers work within collaborative Professional Learning Teams (PLTs). In P-6, these teams are Junior (P-2), Middle (3-4) and Senior (5-6). Teachers work together to identify the students teaching and learning needs that are data-informed and implement evidence-based explicit teaching that engages students to improve outcomes.
At Timbarra College P-9, we offer a Curriculum that is consistent with Victorian Curriculum Standards. All Prep- Year 6 students have the opportunity to engage in the following:
- English
- Mathematics
- IBL (Inquiry Based Learning), which incorporates Humanities, Science and Health
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics)
- Arts- which includes Music and Visual Arts
- Physical Education
