Principal's Report

It has been my privilege to take on the role as Acting Principal for Cassandra Marinopoulos during her leave. Thank you to staff, students and parents who have made this a really positive experience. We will welcome Cassandra back from Week 3 to continue leading this busy term.

School Improvement Works

To ensure that the College’s impressive learning environment is maintained, we have recently invested in projects to improve our learning and play spaces.

In the Primary building:

  • We have ordered blinds for many windows to reduce the sun glare and minimise distractions from outside the classroom.
  • Purchased acoustic partitions for the BER building to decrease the visual and noise distractions for students in the open learning space.

In the Secondary building and grounds:

  • Commenced drainage project between the secondary building and stadium to ensure this area can be used all year round as a play space.
  • Installed air conditioners in the STEM building to reduce the temperature over the heat of summer.
  • Purchased new classroom furniture to increase student comfort when using LN4 and LN8.

Term 4 – Sun Smart Policy

A reminder to Primary students and parents that hats are always required for Primary students for outdoor activities from the beginning of Term 4 to the end of April. This includes recess, lunchtime, PE and Sport. The hat must cover the face, neck and ears with shade.

We also strongly encourage and support Secondary students to make Sun Smart decisions and wear a plain navy hat to protect themselves from the sun when outdoors.

Family Celebration Afternoon

It’s so exciting that in 2024, the Family Celebration Afternoon is back. This is a great opportunity for students to learn and rehearse performances together and then celebrate this achievement with a performance for their families.

Please keep your eye on the Compass posts and communication from classroom teachers regarding the event and details about the simple costume requests for your child’s performance.

Education Requests for 2025

The Leadership team is deep into the planning for 2025 and would like to invite parents to share any educational considerations for the placement of your child/children for next year. Please put it in writing (envelopes marked Confidential, specifically addressed to The Principal) by Friday 1st November, at the latest. Please do not request individual teachers (comments around teaching styles is appropriate). These letters can be left at the front office or posted to the school. Please note, no requests will be taken after this date.

Regards,

Rebekah Nicholas

Chesterfield Farm

The Prep students loved their first ever school excursion to Chesterfield Farm. As part of their IBL unit ‘Growing, Caring Kids’ they were able to milk a cow, pat baby animals, go on a tractor ride, see how sheep dogs work and feed an array of animal friends. What an exciting day full of smiles it was!

Year 6 Spring Carnival

The Year 6 students put all of their economics knowledge into practice with their stalls at the Year 6 Spring Carnival. It was an amazing turn out on the day. A big thank you to the Year 4 & 5 students and teachers who came out and showed their support.

NED's Mindset Mission

Division Athletics

Our secondary students competed at Division Athletics against 7 other schools in our area. We had an extremely successful day with 12 of our students making it through to the regionals competition which will run in Term 4. Huge congratulations to all 38 of our athletes, you did Timbarra proud!

Five Star Foodies

This term our Five Star Foodies program returned for our primary students. These superstars continually model Timbarra expectations and were rewarded by making some waffles in the Food Tech Kitchen.

Battle of the Bands

Six of our Music Academy bands performed amongst 21 other bands from 10 different schools this term at the SEVR Battle of the Bands. We took home two of three awards given on the day, as well as a special mention to Teacher’s Nightmare for their exceptional performance! It was great to see all of our students working together and share success on the day after working diligently each and every week.
